I overall think Lindsay is a good person. She is 20 years old, and from Texas. She's really sweet, and she LOVES animals. I have recently asked Lindsay questions about herself and the Questions will be listed below.
Q: How old were you when you started writing?
A: I've been writing for as long as I can remember! My dad is a writer, so when I was a little girl I used to make up short stories and force my parents to sit down and listen to me read them out. I'm 20 now, and writing my third novel, so in terms of writing seriously, I've only been doing that for about a year now. I don't think I could ever stop, now that I've come down with the writing bug and fallen in love! :)
Q: What was the title of the first book you wrote?
A: My first book was called CHANGED. It was a Young Adult dystopian novel that was sort of The Hunger Games meets Bladerunner, all set in a world surrounded by titanium walls. It will always be like my "first love." However, the book I have on submission with my agent right now is a different one, a YA Scifi entitled THE MURDER COMPLEX. And it's my baby--I love it almost as much as my dogs...
Q: Was it published or not?
A: CHANGED wasn't published, although I came close to landing an agent with it a few times. I hadn't quite learned the value of editing yet, because it was my first full-length novel. It is safely kept in about a million different file folders, computer folders, external hard drives, etc. for now, so I never lose it. But I don't know that I will ever bring that one back to life, now that my writing has grown so much!
Q: What is your favorite color?
A: People always look at me strange when I say this...but I am totally in LOVE with the color black! It's so dark and sleek and mysterious. Lol. My entire closet is full of black clothes, black leather boots, etc, but I always throw in a pinch of bright color so it isn't so depressing! :)
Q: What is your favorite book?
A: You're killing me with this question! ;) I have so many, it's hard to pick just ONE. So I'll go with the cluster of books that are dearest to my heart. Hatchet, by Gary Paulsen, because that's the book that inspired me to write in the first place. The Catcher in the Rye, because it is totally angsty and hilarious and dark. And of course, for a few that are more modern, I love anything by Beth Revis, Victoria Schwab, Lauren Oliver, and my latest read is Frost by Marianna Baer. Basically I love DARK books. lol.
Q: Where do you get your inspiration?
A: Oh, goodness. Nature. Absolutely nature. Hard feelings in life, like heartbreak, sadness, confusion. My favorite inspiration is the rain or the snow, because when I look outside and see it, I think "Something beautiful is happening. I MUST write about this!" I also have to credit all my writing desires to God, because He's the one who said "Lindsay, get off your butt and freakin' WRITE." (at least, that's how I like to imagine He would say it. lol)
Q: What kind of music do you listen to?
A: I have to admit that I am sort of a music snob! I almost majored in music in college, so I am so not a fan of any pop stuff. It hurts my ears! haha. I really love Adele right now, and I also have a HUGE sore spot for all of the Twilight soundtracks. I can write like a madwoman when those babies are on. :)
Q: Do you have any pets, if so, what are their names?
A: Okay. Everyone who follows me on twitter or my blog is probably rolling their eyes right now. Because I am such a FREAK for my 2 German Shepherds. They are my babies, and they go everywhere with me. Seriously. Oh my goodness, I just love them so much, and they are the worst trouble-makers every. Still puppies! Their names are Hurley and Kai (I'm a surfer, so naturally, they got surfer names) and I also have an orange kitty named Crookshanks! Gotta rep that Harry Potter!
Q: What is your favorite movie?
A: Oooh, my favorite right now is HANNA. It is so dark and gory, and the main character rocks my world.
Q: What is your favorite show?
A: Right now? It's Pretty Little Liars. As if highschool wasn't enough drama, I had to get hooked on this one. lol. I also really love Modern Family. Writing dark novels requires some funny things to liven up each day, and I could watch this show on a loop forever.
Q: What do you do for fun?
A: I love to read, take my dogs to the dog park, hang out with my boyfriend Josh and best friend Cherie! I have Chronic Fatigue, so as a 20 year old, I don't do typical things that most people my age do. But honestly, the most genuine fun, to me, is exploring new worlds in my writing :)
Q: If you were asked to guest star on Ellen, would you?
A: Ellen. Is. My. FAVORITE. End of story.
Q: After your book gets published, will you be willing to go to different schools to talk about your book and being a young author?
A: Totally! I actually am already a part of a group of fellow YA authors called TEEN SHIVER. You can find our website at the link I'll post at the end of this, but we travel and speak to kids at libraries, schools, conferences, bookstores, etc. So many AWESOME successful ladies. We just got Rachel Caine to join! Fangirling!
